WHITE TEA
Kenya White Tea is bolder than the customary Chinese white teas, and has tremendous flavor without the bite of black tea or the grassy notes of green tea.
It is difficult to describe the taste of White Tea, but it's unique properties and high levels of antioxidants make it a special tea worth trying.
Kenya Tea (Oh, the varieties!)
Kenya Tea (Oh, the varieties!)
Tea was first introduced in Kenya in 1903. Commercialisation of tea started in 1924. Since then the nation has become a major producer of black tea. Currently Kenya is ranked first before China and India in tea production. Kenyan tea is also one of the top foreign exchange earners, alongside tourism and Kenyan coffee.
We offer all forms and grades of Kenya tea. The most popular is Black and Green, but there is increased interest and popularity of the unique Purple and White Tea.
PURPLE TEA
Purple tea is a rare tea variety grown in the Mt. Kenya region, derived from a new crossbred variety of the common tea leaf, Camellia sinensis, from which black, white, and green teas are derived. This new variety of the classic tea plant was only recently developed and is exclusive to Kenya. Purple tea is grown in cooler conditions, at an elevation of between 4,500 and 7,500 feet. This allows the plants to sustain more intense sun rays causing it to produce high levels of protective anthocyanins and higher levels of polyphenols (16.5 %) than other teas.
